Bethesda titles, such as the acclaimed Fallout 3, are renowned for their endearing glitches and bugs that can sometimes work in the player's favor. In one particularly entertaining example, a lucky glitch allowed a gamer to defeat a formidable Super Mutant Behemoth by accidentally launching the towering enemy to an absurd height, only for it to plummet back down and succumb to the lethal fall damage, showcasing Fallout 3's charming jankiness in action.

Fallout 3's Glitchy Charm Saves the Day: A Behemoth's Unexpected Demise

Bethesda's Fallout 3, like many of the developer's beloved role-playing games, is renowned for its entertaining array of glitches and bugs. While most of these quirks don't necessarily benefit the player, one Fallout 3 gamer has managed to turn the game's jankiness to their advantage in a particularly memorable encounter.

Super Mutant Behemoths, the larger and more formidable variants of the standard Super Mutant, are designed to be a significant threat in Fallout 3, with their rarity, high hit points, and devastating damage output making each encounter a true test of the player's skill. However, in one such battle, Reddit user An_Average_Weasel managed to fell a Behemoth in an unconventional manner, thanks to a little help from the game's quirks.

The video footage shows the player using the VATS targeting system to lob frag grenades at the towering Behemoth. While the grenades initially did little to diminish the enemy's health, the third grenade triggered an unexpected result – it launched the Behemoth several stories into the air. After a brief period of hang time, the Behemoth's fall ultimately proved fatal, as the fall damage proved too much for the mighty foe to withstand. This fortuitous glitch, occurring during the player's first playthrough of Fallout 3, showcases the enduring charm of the game's jankiness.

Fallout 3's Glitched Super Mutant Behemoth Encounters Provide Plenty of Laughs

Fallout 3's glitchy interactions with its Super Mutant Behemoths have provided players with plenty of hilarious and unexpected moments. Earlier this year, one Reddit user shared a video of a battle against a Behemoth that took an unexpected turn. Armed with a devastating Fat Man launcher, the player fired a mini-nuke at the towering enemy, only for the Behemoth to parry the explosive projectile using its fire hydrant club, causing the mini-nuke to ricochet harmlessly towards the bodies of fallen Brotherhood of Steel members.

Additionally, while not directly involving the Behemoths, another Fallout 3 player showcased the game's quirky combat mechanics in a different context. Utilizing the VATS targeting system, the player, whose character had a gangly appearance, landed a series of punches on a standard Super Mutant, culminating in an uppercut that both eliminated the much larger foe and sent its hulking corpse flying through the air. These instances demonstrate that the occasional glitches and bugs present in Bethesda's games can sometimes enhance the player experience in unexpected and hilarious ways.
