Fortnite's new Marvel collab is Absolute HYPE

Following the conclusion of Season 3's live event, which saw the mysterious unearthing of Pandora's Box beneath Redline Rig, players have eagerly awaited to uncover the orchestrator of these events. Now, thanks to the recent D23 event, we know who the cultrate is: Dr. Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom.

Fortnite has a well-established history of high-profile crossover collaborations, which have increasingly become integral parts of the game's story over the past few years. From various video games and movies to TV shows, artists, and musicians, Epic Games has managed to feature content spanning numerous mediums.

Now, they and Marvel have officially confirmed that the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 will be known as Absolute Doom, which will introduce new characters like Gwenpool alongside updated versions of fan-favorite Marvel heroes and villains.

Prior to this, leaks and rumors had heavily suggested that Doctor Doom would once again be appearing in Fortnite. These early leaks, including the discovery of a green cape for a new Doctor Doom skin in the LEGO Fortnite game files, have now been validated by the official D23 announcement. Marvel is set to make a grand return to Fortnite with another major in-game event.

The D23 reveal, featuring appearances from Marvel's Kevin Feige, Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni, and Pixar studio boss Pete Doctor, has now confirmed that the Redline Rig incident was caused by Doctor Doom, and that he will absorb the power from Pandora's Box, leading us into upcoming Absolute Doom season. The trailer also showcases an intense conflict, suggesting players may even be able to choose sides in the battle.

Alongside the introduction of numerous Marvel characters joining the fray, the game will also feature a host of new items and weapons for players to explore, such as the Dual Micro SMGs. The season's trailer also teases the incorporation of new character-specific abilities, such as Captain America's Shield, or War Machine's Arsenal of weapons. Furthermore, Gwenpool appears to be utilizing Iron Man's signature rocket gear, granting her the ability to not only traverse the map but also engage in aerial attacks against her opponents.

Fortnite players eager to dive into this highly anticipated Marvel-themed season can do so starting on August 16, when Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom officially launches.

The highly anticipated return of Marvel characters to Fortnite likely foreshadows the introduction of both new and returning in-game items in the item shop. In fact, Fortnite has already added an X-Men Bundle, which includes skins for Cyclops, Colossus, and Jubilee, as well as a collection of accompanying backblings, emotes, and other cosmetic items.

Fans of Doctor Doom will have to wait for a bit to unlock the new version of his character, however, has it will only be available in an upcoming special Battle Pass Quest that Epic Games plans to introduce in September.
