First Look at Fortnite's Absolute Doom Map

Fortnite's newest chapter, titled Absolute Doom, approaches its launch date of August 16. As such, Epic Games has begun to unveil various elements that will be included in this upcoming chapter. This includes teasing portions of the new map that players can expect to explore.

Epic Games and Disney have collaborated extensively over the years, with characters from Marvel and Star Wars franchises making numerous appearances in the game. Earlier this year, Disney's $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games further solidifies the likelihood of these high-profile crossovers becoming even more prevalent in the future.

Marvel Takeover Confirmed

For some time, rumors have been circulating within the Fortnite community, suggesting that the game's next major update would feature a strong Marvel focus. These speculations were finally confirmed during the Fortnite x Disney D23 livestream on August 10.

During the livestream, Disney unveiled the trailer for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom, which showcased an abundance of Marvel-inspired character skins. Some of these skins, such as Peely in a Wolverine suit, appear to have been reimagined in order to make them more suitable for the Fortnite Battle Pass.

The trailer for Absolute Doom showcased a comprehensive glimpse into the content that players can expect in the next season, such as a preview of the Battle Pass skins, as well as mythic powers and weapons that will be available.

Perhaps most intriguing, however, were the never-before-seen landmarks and locations that could be spotted in the background of the trailer. This sparked significant curiosity among the Fortnite community about the impending changes to the game's iconic Battle Royale map.

Based on the visual clues, Lavish Lair and Pleasant Piazza seem to be the most likely candidates for the new Marvel-themed POIs - these areas appear to have undergone significant transformations, hinting at the scale of the Absolute Doom season's map updates.

The official Fortnite Twitter account has been hinting at the untold stories within each of the game's locations, even tagging Marvel as asking for their assistance as part of the post.

Marvel's response came in the form of a visual teaser, showcasing one of the upcoming points-of-interest for the Fortnite Battle Royale map - Latveria, a nation ruled under the iron hand of the iconic villain, Doctor Doom.

To uncover the full extent of Latveria's integration into the Fortnite landscape, as well as any other Marvel-themed map changes, players will have to wait until the highly anticipated release of Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom on August 16.
