Surprisingly, a brand-new Elder Scrolls game is set to launch this year, though it’s likely not the one fans have been eagerly anticipating. Bethesda has revealed thatThe Elder Scrolls: Castles—a spiritual successor to its popular free-to-play building sim Fallout Shelter—will be available for iOS and Android devices on September 10, 2024.

In The Elder Scrolls: Castles, players will step into the shoes of the right-hand advisor to a king or queen, managing the growth and prosperity of a castle across multiple generations. Your responsibilities include training subjects, naming heirs, and ensuring the happiness of your kingdom’s inhabitants. However, if you fail to keep them content, don’t be shocked if they start plotting against you.

Bethesda explains that “Each day in real life equates to a year in the game,” This means you’ll witness your subjects’ lives unfold, choose future rulers, and lay the groundwork for a thriving kingdom. Along the way, you’ll need to tackle issues like food rationing and mediate conflicts among your subjects.

Much like Fallout Shelter, The Elder Scrolls: Castles offers a variety of customization options for your dwelling. You can expand rooms, add decorations and monuments, and assign subjects to different workstations. The longer you play, the more grand and impressive your kingdom will become.

And of course, it wouldn’t be an Elder Scrolls game without epic quests. You’ll be able to send your subjects on adventures, equipped with gear crafted in your castle, to battle familiar monsters from previous Elder Scrolls titles. As they return victorious, you’ll unlock new items and level up weapons and armor, preparing your kingdom for even greater challenges.

Players who are interested can head to the App Store and Google Play to pre-register for the game now. Bethesda is offering in-game bonuses based on pre-registration milestones: 500,000 registrations will earn players 100 gems and 1 Blessing of Great Dynasty; 1 million will unlock 1 Legendary Pack and 3 Banner Decorations; and 2 million will reward players with Ulfric Stormcloak as a Legendary Subject.

As for The Elder Scrolls 6, fans will have to wait a bit longer for any news. But in the meantime, The Elder Scrolls: Castles promises to be an engaging experience for those looking to immerse themselves in a new kind of adventure within the Elder Scrolls universe.
