Flexion Mobile, a leading games marketing company, has joined forces with King to launch the wildly popular puzzle game Candy Crush Saga on alternative app stores. This fan-favorite game will now be accessible via Huawei App Gallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi GetApps, and ONE Store, in addition to its established presence on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
The app store marketplace is gradually decentralizing, and more games are expected to expand their reach to these alternative platforms. Historically dominated by tech giants Apple and Google, the marketplace has been undergoing structural shifts in recent years. The European Union recently passed a law requiring Apple to permit side-loading and support alternative app stores, a move echoed by Japan with similar regulations. This has led to the rise of additional platforms and marketplaces like Aptoide, fostering healthy competition in the industry.
Flexion Mobile has a strong track record of helping developers bring their games to alternative platforms. They've previously collaborated on successful launches of titles like Hill Climb Racing 2, Monopoly Go!, and King of Avalon. Now, Candy Crush Saga joins this lineup, and while the game already enjoys a massive audience, Flexion’s marketing expertise will help it seamlessly adapt to and thrive on these new app stores.
"We are thrilled that King chose Flexion for this partnership. It’s an honor to bring one of the world’s most successful mobile games to alternative app stores," said Jens Lauritzson, CEO of Flexion Mobile. "Our approach provides King with an easy, robust, and low-risk path to access these alternative platforms, while also helping them to grow revenue and reach new audiences for their phenomenally successful game."
As the app store marketplace continues to expand, more developers, whether of new games or established IPs, will likely explore these alternative avenues. With Flexion's proven success in launching hits on these platforms, it wouldn’t be surprising to see even more high-profile titles like Candy Crush Saga making their way to alternative app stores in the near future.
